AND JUST LIKE THE CLASSIC PAINTERS, MARK HENDERSON LIKES TO PLACE SOME OBJECTS IN HIS WORK THAT HAVE SYMBOLIC VALUE. Recently Mark Henderson bought himself a new house in his hole state Texas, where he already started to work on his planned follow up to Household Idols. More contemporary and spacious in appearance, with many white walls, high ceilings and modernist furniture, the Texas house stands in sharp contrast to Marks Los Angeles home. So it seems logical that the second book will breath a very different atmosphere. The series he shot with one of his favorite model Marcus is a first example. “My images are taking on a more austere look with occasional pops of jewel-like color,” Mark explains. “This set is very different from the rest of my photographs in that it is probably the most monochromatic work I've ever done, and represents an experiment of sorts for me. I don't know if I will ever completely abandon the saturated color palette of my other work, but I wanted to share these particular pictures with the readers of Beautiful Magazine as an alternative to my usual fare.”

Mark Henderson is a man with a weakness for the sexy bookworm type of guy. He likes to see sexy men in eyeglasses. The idea of what is know as the ‘nerd’ has always appealed to him and in many f his recent work you can find strategically placed books and glasses that lead into this direction. Placing a well-defined athletic physique in the context of more cerebral pursuits is a theme Mark hopes to explore further. It seems that for some reason putting his bare skin against the soft leather of the chaise is distracting Marcus from studying, so wonder what it was that mark was trying to teach Marcus here. In any case, we can’t wait to see what else Mark Henderson has in mind to make sure his subjects stick to the lessons.

Marcus is one of Mark Henderson’s favorite models. They started working together about two years ago, when Marcus was 18 years old, is bright and always happy and according to Mark a delight to photograph. Marcus currently resides in San Francisco where he studies (yes) to become a personal trainer while at the same time works on his modeling career. Given the fact he loves to show off his ever –improving physique – and why wouldn’t he – for sure he will succeed in reaching both goals. –B-

Tim Ricks Continuing Story of Sensual Beauty

IT IS INTERESTING HOW SOME ARTISTS CAN BE LES VISIBLE THAN OTHERS BUT STILL HAVE MADE UN UNFORGETTABLE IMPRESSION. PHOTOGRAPHERS WHOSE TALENT SPEAK FOR ITSELF AND, SO THAT WHEN SEEING THEIR WORK IN A DIFFERENT CONTEXT, YOU IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZE IT AS THEIR PHOTOGRAPHS. TIM RICKS IS SUCH A MAN.

In November 2008 we introduced Tim Ricks in BeautifulMag Ethnic week. Already we were so impressed with his amazing work that his BeautifulMag debut happened in two following series. Quite exceptional. Over the past two and a half years we have been following Tim’s career and accomplishments with interest, and have been able to share some of that with you in a variety of context. Even though less present than others, Tim has been responsible on BeautifulMag for quite some big features. He presented some model specific series, has been featured in a Beautiful Thursday post and illustrated besides his own two other big interviews The last thing we saw from Tim, already 8 months ago, was his popular entry in the first Beautiful Sex week, in November 2008. Logically we thought it was time to bring this gifted man back in the spotlight.

Tim was born in California and almost literally raised with a camera. His parents never left the house without so photography was part of his education. Tim is a man of opinion, and likes to share that through his art. Over the years he has had many publications, and his work varies from fashion to artistic portraits, some sensational and emotional, others more sexual and even provocative. And everything with that specific style that only can be seen as the Tim Ricks signature style.

When searching for Tim Ricks on the Internet, you will soon find out there isn’t that much information available about the man, except his portfolio and a Model Mayhem profile page. Tim is a man of little words, and prefers to let his work speak for him. And that it does. There is a story in each of Tim’s photographs, and what many might se as beautiful artistic imagery, often brings a concept that goes much deeper than just a picture. Often it is said that we should be happy to live in a time when it is finally possible to admire the male physique in all its glory, but we tend to forget that nude male art can be traced back into history a far as early cave wall paintings. Many civilizations in our early history were known to celebrate the male nudes, especially the ancient Greeks. Maybe that is the reason Greece is known as the place where homosexuality sprouted first. This is not a given fact, though it is true that the ancient Greeks embraced romance and love between men as no other at that time, though they were unfamiliar with the term homosexuality. That is the label we gave it much later, probably here in Western Europe, when the freedom of expressing male nudity became a sin while going to the periods of the Middle Ages and the Gothic Era. No time in history knows less celebration of the beauty of male nudes than this long, almost 1,000 year period.

With the rebirth of the values of the Classical World in the beginning of the 15th century, the male nude made its re-entrance in art, and even though the princes of the Church were still heavily opposed against any nudism, the artists of that time were able to express their vision by giving it Biblical meaning. Thank God for men like Michelangelo Buonorroti, who so believed in the spirituality of the human physics that he did not shy away from expressing male nudity in his art. In the contrary, his Creation of Adam is still being seen a one of the most perfect expressions of male physical beauty. Many believe Michelangelo’s homosexuality was the base for the search for male perfection in his works. Whatever it was, it opened doors for many others, up until today.

It took Michelangelo 4 years to complete his masterpiece Creation of Adam. Today, with the help of photography, and more specific digital photography, we do not have to wait that long anymore to discover new visions of male beauty. Glorified forms of god and athletes on Greek public buildings, and religious presentations on church walls and ceilings have now made way for photobooks and exhibitions, a freedom of the male body in both art and everyday life that is the result of a centuries long struggle of gay sensibility and culture. It is almost as if we have taken a giant step back in time and are able to relive the freedom and common sense the Ancient Greeks displayed towards male sensuality. Almost… -B-

North and South

NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO, THERE ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NORTH AND SOUTH REGIONS IN A COUNTRY. THE MORE NORTH YOU ARE, THE MORE STRICT THINGS SEEM TO BE, WHEREAS IN THE SOUTH, THINGS SEEM TO BE MORE LIGHT HEARTED. AND NO SELDOM THIS HAS BEEN REASON FOR CONFLICT. IT IS NOT MERELY AN OBSERVATION, IT IS A FACT THAT RE-OCCURS MANY TIMES IN REAL HISTORY. TODAY WE ADD A NEW CHAPTER TO THE LIST OF MANY STORIES THAT TALK ABOUT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NORTH AND SOUTH.

We really can not explain why it always seems that Northern areas are defined with controlled and strict lifestyles, while Southern regions seem to be more passionate and flamboyant. It is often said that it lies in the climate differences. And that could be one of the reasons, if you look at bigger scale differences. But that doesn’t explain that the north and south separations are also very true when you go more local. In The Netherlands for example, you can see a clear difference in northern and southern lifestyle. And The Netherlands is exactly where we want to take you today.

Gert Kist is now newbie here on BeautifulMag. We have had the chance to present you his work on numerous occasions, and if you have missed that we strongly recommend you to look into our archives – the articles are listed at the end of this story – and of course Gert’s own exciting website Malemodel.nl. Going through this rich source of information and delicious photography, you will soon realize Gert is an expert when it comes to photographing tasty Dutch men. And he doesn’t care away if there is some southern blood involved either. Holland is known for its beautiful tulips, and we all know they come in many varieties.

Today however is an exception to the rule. Kiko is not Dutch. In fact he doesn’t even live there. Kiko origins from Brazil, which is by definition one of the most southern countries on our planet. Some time ago however, he decided to pack his bags and move north. He ended up in Spain, or to be more precise, Barcelona, which is located in the north of the country but  for us is still considered to be south. In Barcelona Kiko now works as a barman, so gentlemen, if you want to met him in person, you have some serious bar-hopping to do in this flamboyant Spanish city. Many Dutch love to spend their vacation time in Spain. Kiko however decided to take a trip to The Netherlands, and it was there that he first encountered Gert Kist’s Malemodel.nl. In his typical unrestrained southern way, Kiko decided immediately to contact Gert and one thing led to another. Soon after discovering the exciting website, Kiko ended up in front of Gert’s camera and became himself a nice addition to Malemodel.nl. –B-

LIVING A SUCCESSFUL LIFE AS A RUNWAY MODEL AND TV HOST. BEING ADMIRED BY MANY FOR WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU STAND FOR. IT IS A DREAM FOR MANY, AND A REALITY FOR ONLY A VERY FEW. SO IF YOU GET THE CHANCE TO DO ALL THAT, WOULD YOU GIVE IT ALL UP FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. SOMETHING OF WHICH MOST PEOPLE PROBABLY WOULD SAY IT DOESN’T HAVE A CHANCE OF SUCCEEDING?  WOULD YOU BE BOLD AND DARING ENOUGH TO TAKE THAT RISK?

Dionisio Heiderscheid, know to his friend as D.O., had everything going for him when he decided to try something very different. Being a national celebrity and successful fashion model, he took the risk to try his luck in gay porn. He packed his stuff, took a plane to the United States and started his new career. And to make it even more difficult, he did it all with a relatively unknown company at the time. Now, 3 years later, D.O. is hard on his way to become one of the bigger names in the adult industry. We met D.O. recently in New York and took the opportunity to make an appointment with him for a one-to-one conversation.

D.O., can you please tell us a bit about your personal background, like where you are from, etc…
D.O.: Hello Beautiful! So, I was born in Argentina, in a beautiful city named La Plata, one hour away from Buenos Aires. La Plata is the first pre-planned city in South America. After practicing gymnastics at competition level during all my childhood, and after studying advertising when I was older, I decide to move to Buenos Aires at the age of 20. Here I tried my luck in fashion and modeling.

And with success, right? You started your career in the spotlight with being a runway and print model and you also appeared on TV. Seems like a dream career for many. Still you gave it all up and choose a different path…
D.O.: Becoming a fashion runaway model allowed me to travel to Europe. I worked in Milan, Paris and Germany. This work eventually evolved in becoming a TV host, which I did for 3 years. But after all that, I felt I needed a radical change, which I hoped to find in the adult entertainment. So my challenge was to find the right people in the adult business and plan a professional carrier, in which I could develop and express my self in a completely different way. It didn’t take long before many doors opened. It was of course kind of risky, but then again, if you don´t take the chance, you don’t go anywhere. What I have learned is that life is worth taking risks in. What else are we here for than to learn about ourselves and the things we are capable of doing. I knew the USA has a large porn industry consumer market, so that would be the place to build a professional carrier. My challenge was to put all what I had done that far on stand-by, taking the risks, taking my own decisions, against all odds and against what all people expected from me. My only question to answer was: why not? And since I couldn’t find a strong and convincing answer to that, I just did it and here I am! ☺

How did your family and friends react?
D.O.: Before I stepped in my plane to NYC, I talked with my family and friends, explaining them that I needed to have at least one experience in the industry? By being frontal, professional and honest I managed to keep their trust in me. And so they blessed me and supported me, like they had done all through my life. I think this conversation was the most important thing I did before I toke the final decision. It made me stronger and gave me confidence. Now, after almost 3 years, and after having grown in so many different ways, they are proud of me. This is not about sex. This is about respecting my feelings and being honest with myself and everyone around me. When you take a step in one way, trust and hope will make it the right way.

Looking the way you do – and we all know that in the adult entertainment industry looks are reasonably important – we are sure you could have worked for any big studio out there. Still you decided to join the relatively new Black Scorpio Video and went even as far as signing an exclusive contract with them. Why?
D.O.: Black Scorpion Video was a small starting company when they contacted me, and I guess it was that what convinced me. In a big old international studio, I would may be just another guy, but for BSV I was the right guy. They believed in me, they believed I could help them to be in the top of the industry fast! And I think we did a great job together. This year, even though we won only one, we had 18 nominations for the GAY VN awards. We are now a big enough independent and still brand new company. I´m proud of BSV and what we achieved. We also built Black Rat Video, a small division where I have started to learn how to direct movies, how to have a team responding to me and how to build great hot sex scene. We built Black Scorpion Video together into a company that has quality, a new vision and a new energy. we really Want to give the adult industry beautiful movies, beautiful locations and beautiful guys in front of the camera. Apparently it is appreciated, so it looks we are on the right way.

It is pretty amazing that even without the marketing machine of the big studios behind you, you seem to be on your way to become one of the big names in the industry. Can you explain this? What do you have that others don’t?
D.O.: The particular think about me, is that nobody expected that after working in the fashion industry and for TV, I could become a porn star. So I guess I kind of made a dream come true for a lot of the people. Plus, I just love to make love, so I just want to give my best to all of you ☺. I think I found my place to express my self in many, many different ways. In fact it is kind of “up side down.” Some main stream actors start by doing porn, and then they become Hollywood actors, like Sylvester Stallone. But I feel the world is changing, and anything is possible, so, once again, here I am!

Let’s get a bit more personal D.O.
You have a great body. What do you consider your best asset?
D.O.: I guess my best body asset is my proportion. My muscles are not bigger than other guys, but my body proportions, and maybe my skin, I think that is the difference.

And what is it you like least about yourself?
D.O.: Mmmm… I don´t like my hair, so even when I like an occasional hair cut, I can not hold it for long, so I change it, with a different product or cut. Hair, it is an issue for many, many people, believe me.

What is it you like most when doing a sex scene?
D.O.: The best is to rim… I love rim… A lot.

And when having sex in private?
D.0.: The same!!!! Definitely… Plus some fingers… ☺

What is your favorite outfit when you are at home?
D.O.: When I´m home I love to be just in my pajama pants. No shoes, no tank top. But, sometimes I like to just wear a jockstrap. Almost naked but very sexy. I like wearing sexy underwear when I’m alone, like thongs or leather stuff. It makes me kind of horny all day.

Do you have pets?
D.O.: I have 3 cats, 2 Turkish angoras and a small Siamese. I love cats and dogs, bu dogs are more like kids. You have to take them outside to poo and pee and they always want to be with somebody. I love the independence in cats. They are like me.

D.O. tell us about the positive and negative aspects of working as a porn actor…
D.O.: Positive in porn: everyone has fantasies about and with you and about how your life must be if working in such an exciting profession, even when not everything is that great, like any other job. After all this life is an illusion. I´m not more happy than any one else, but when you are involved with entertainment, fashion, TV, traveling etc, people easily fantasy about you.
Negative things about porn? Yes, every morning I must convince myself again that I am in the right place. I was born in the same society as everybody else. So even when I decided to take the risks, I still have to affirm I´m doing a right thing every day. But at the end of that same day I´m happy to be alive and to feel free to do what I want.

Over the past year or so you have been working with a large amount of international photographers on a photo book. It will be released soon under the title The Different Sides of D.O. What can we expect?
D.O.: This project is about to be finish. This month, I will be shooting the last sessions in Manhattan. We worked with 20 photographers and the book will be a great art piece. Fashion, sexuality, high lighting quality and locations. You all need to buy it, not just because of my ass or my dick, but because all the profits will be donated for HIV research around the world. Why this book D.O. What do you want to say with it?
D.O.: What I want to say with this book is that sexuality and freedom are two great emotions that match perfectly together. It is a scream for life and it gives all people a great feeling of joy and pleasure. Plus: every body is consuming porn in the world. Fashion, movies, you name it. If everybody in this media could do something to help the people next door, I´m sure we would have a better world…  So I´m trying to do my best with the book, which will help a lot of people, and not just to keep going with the fight against Aids. It will also give all of you a great book that you can enjoy, and I´m proud of that ☺.

Back to the movies D.O. As mentioned before you also started to work as a director. So, and this is always one of our favorite question, if we would give you a budget and free creativity, what fantasy would you like to realize?
D.O.: That is an easy one, and probably not what you would expect ☺. In Black Rat we are producing really hot sex scenes, just in a hotel room. I would like to put a third camera behind me, so you can see and hear what I want from the performers and realize how we build the porn industry. It is a great way to start showing that our work it is in fact that WORK. And let’s face it, it is hot as well.

D.O. we thank you for this interview. We would like to end it with the question we always ask anyone we talk with: please say something nice – or naughty – to our readers… This is your chance, so don’t hold back…
D.O.: I just want to say that life is a great gift we all have. Don´t waste your time doing what you must to, doing what is just right or what the others expect from you. Do what you really feel, do what your heart tells you and keep going in your own direction, even when it seems you are in the wrong direction. If you have the inner feeling, trust yourself, be strong, be happy, You are alive. You have the chance to do whatever you like. Start enjoying life right now!! –B-

Over the past year, the people behind ES Collection, the have been working hard to create more visibility for this underwear and swimwear brand that originates from Barcelona, Spain. Not only by creating new and exciting models in their fast growing line of products, but also by offering the opportunity to really experience the ES feeling in specially dedicated shops. A first one already existed in Barcelona, the home town of the brand, but has been stylishly remodeled this year. And more recently a second flagship store opened its doors in Bilbao, the trendy northern Spanish city.

The opening of the Bilbao shop happened around the same time as the launch of their new Wonderboxer line, nicely demonstrated here in new photographs by Joan Crisol. It isn’t hard to see why ES has become so popular. –B-
